A new kindergarten unit is being built in collaboration with Impande

Sinosizo Creche is located in the Umuziwabantu municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and has been operating since 2019. Today, the kindergarten provides care and early learning for 49 children, supported by two volunteer adults. All teaching currently takes place in a single classroom, and a simple corrugated metal structure is used as a kitchen – resulting in very limited facilities for the youngest children.

In recent years, the kindergarten has experienced increasing enrolment due to local efforts to ensure that more children gain access to early childhood education. This is a positive development, but it has also led to capacity being stretched beyond its limits. The current facilities no longer provide safe and adequate conditions for all children, particularly the youngest.

Why a new unit matters

A new kindergarten unit will:

  • give the youngest children a space adapted to their specific needs
  • create more room and calmer conditions for learning and play
  • provide safer daily environments for both children and staff
  • make it possible to operate the kindergarten in a sustainable way

For the children, this is about far more than a new building. It is about safety, structure, and the opportunity to develop in an environment designed for them.

Collaboration with Impande

The project is carried out in collaboration with Impande, a Norwegian development organization with extensive experience in kindergarten development in South Africa. Impande works closely with local kindergartens to:

  • improve buildings and infrastructure
  • ensure access to basic facilities
  • strengthen staff competence
  • support kindergartens in becoming officially approved and eligible for public funding

This approach ensures that the measures are not only short-term solutions, but create lasting impact for the local community.

SVAI’s contribution

In 2026, SVAI has committed to contributing NOK 80,000, covering the construction of the new kindergarten unit at Sinosizo Creche.

This contribution is part of SVAI’s regular operations during the period. This means that everyone who chooses to visit our sauna is also helping to support the project.

Why this matters to us

SVAI is built on community, warmth, and experiences that allow room for both calm and reflection. For us, it feels natural to use part of what we create to contribute where the need is significant and the impact is tangible.

This is not about charity as a symbol.
It is about taking responsibility – and doing something that truly matters.

The road ahead

We will share updates as construction begins and the project develops. The goal is simple: to provide the children at Sinosizo Creche with safer conditions and better space to grow, play, and learn.

Thank you to everyone who is part of this – consciously or unconsciously – by choosing SVAI Sauna and supporting the project.
